“It is with deep sadness that we have to confirm news that we never wanted to publish. We are overwhelmed with grief over the death of David Cordón Cano, father of our player Da Vinci, in a tragic accident in Adamus, Córdoba.
“We met you seven months ago, and in such a short time you have won us over with your simplicity, kindness and generosity. We will miss you! Rest in peace, dear friend,” the club said in a statement.
Heartbroken Da Vinci (David Cordon de Mancha by passport) published a post on his Instagram page, which he dedicated to his father.

“I know that the Lord of Sorrows and the Virgin of Love are with you, and together you will guide me throughout my life. You will fill me with strength in difficult moments, and I will always remember what you told us so often: always be happy and move forward.”
Everything I do in this life will always be for the sake of the brightest star I see in the sky.
As I was once told, “When the road gets tough, only the strong walk it,” you have always been a fighter and taught me that from the very first moment.
“This is the greatest act of love I can do for you, to show you that I can handle anything and never give up. I LOVE YOU, DAD,” the former Spain U18 player wrote.

Recall that on Sunday, January 18, at around 7:40 p.m., the Iryo high-speed train, traveling from Malaga to Madrid, derailed near the municipality of Adamus in the province of Cordoba, crossed another track and collided with an oncoming train.
As a result of the incident, another train also derailed and fell down a four-meter embankment. In total, there were about 500 passengers on the two trains. At least 42 people are known to have died.
We should add that left-back Da Vinci joined Getafe in the summer of 2025, transferring from Recreativo for 600 thousand euros. During this time, the Spanish footballer played 7 matches in the elite Spanish division, without scoring.
