Dublin beat Meath to win seventh All-Ireland title

Hannah Tyrrell, Kate Sullivan and captain Carla Rowe produced an impressive 0-13 aggregate at Croke Park on Sunday as Dublin reclaimed the All-Ireland Senior Football TG4 title with a convincing win over Leinster rivals Meath.

Nicole Owens and Niamh Heatherton also scored in a dominant first half as Dublin ended their first season under the joint management of Paul Casey and Derek Murray by reclaiming the Brendan Martin Cup for the seventh time in their history.

Tyrrell were just three points short of winning the 2025 ZuCar Golden Boot and moved the ball away in a replay of the 2021 All-Ireland decider with an early 2-0 win.

Things got even better for the Sky Blues when Owens scored a fine goal in the sixth minute and Sullivan also added her name to the scoresheet before Emma Duggan finally opened the scoring for Meath with a successful free-kick in the 10th minute.

While Duggan was on hand to deny Rowe's goal, Dublin were on the move either side of the first-quarter mark, with four points apiece from Tyrrell (two), Orlagh Nolan and Sullivan.

The rampaging Jackies then went twelve points clear when Heatherton fired a shot under the Meath crossbar on 22 minutes and, although Duggan converted two free-kicks to Sullivan's third from play, Dublin made it a comfortable 2-9 to 0-4.

That left the Royals with a tough task at the restart but Meath got a boost when Duggan scored two more points ahead of her Dunboyne team-mate Vikki Wall, who scored a superb goal from open play.

However, Dublin extended their lead when Rowe scored and Tyrrell's fifth point of the day put them back in front by double figures (2-11 to 0-7).

Sullivan's follow-up hit brought her personal lead to 0-4 and the Capitals were on the verge of another major league title heading into the final quarter.

Ciara Smith, captain Eibin Cleary and Duggan (who scored the seventh goal of the tie) all scored for Meath as the final whistle approached, but despite Tyrrell going off injured late in the game, points from Heatherton, Niamh Crowley and the influential Rowe (two) ensured Dublin were on their way to a second All-Ireland success in three years.

Earlier, Tyrone manager Darren McCann said he was confident they had the strength to win the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate title for a second time.

“We felt like we were in complete control on the touchline. We were creating chances but we just weren't finishing them, which was frustrating,” McCann said.

The whole group showed determination and determination and it was a collective performance. I was very pleased with their performance today and the main thing was to get to the top and keep it.

Goals in either half from Aoife Horisk and Katie Rose Muldoon were vital as they moved six points clear of Laois and deservedly lifted the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup at Croke Park.
