Great Britain and Ireland Lions defender Dan Sheehan has been handed a four-match ban after he flagged Australia's Tom Lynagh during the third Test match in Sydney on Saturday.
The ban could be reduced to three matches if the Ireland and Leinster international successfully completes a coaching course.
Shihan's tackle in the first half of the game at the Accor Stadium, which the Lions lost 22-12, went unnoticed by Georgian referee Nika Amashukeli, after which he was given a retrospective warning.
Replays showed the 26-year-old's elbow appeared to connect with his opponent's head.
Wallabies midfielder Lynagh took a free kick immediately after the incident but was then taken off for a head injury assessment (HIA) and did not return to the field.
Sheehan will be ruled out of Leinster's pre-season match against Cardiff on September 13, as well as United Rugby Championship (URC) matches against South African sides the Stormers and Sharks on September 26 and October 11 respectively.
If he serves the full four-match ban, the striker will also miss his province's URC match against Munster on October 18.
