Canelo Alvarez to fight Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in September

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will fight Terence Crawford in the super main event in Las Vegas on September 13. UFC President Dana White has been announced as a co-promoter for the event.

The fight, scheduled for September, was originally supposed to take place in 2021, as the pair met after Alvarez's tough win over William Scull last month, which saw him retain his WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO super middleweight titles.

The date for the fight has already been set: former two-division undisputed world champion Crawford, who has won all 41 of his professional fights, will have to move up two divisions from welterweight to face Alvarez.

Saudi Arabian Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshih described the fight as “the fight of the century” and will be promoted in partnership with White.

“Turkey is committed to putting on the biggest fights that boxing fans want to see, and that's what I like,” White said of the fight, which is expected to take place at 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium.

“Are you serious that the first boxing fight I'm going to promote is Canelo vs. Crawford? That fight is a real rarity.”

It was also announced that the Alvarez-Crawford series will be streamed worldwide on Netflix at no additional cost to its more than 300 million subscribers.
