Camogie: Galway and Cork reach All-Ireland final after semi-final wins

Galway reached the All-Ireland Senior Camogie semi-final with a 1-18 to 1-11 victory over Tipperary at Nowlan Park.

Niamh Mallon scored 1-2 and Eilish O'Reilly added five to ensure Galway reached their second successive final.

Galway started the match brightly, taking a 0-8 to 0-2 lead inside the first 24 minutes.

However, Tipperary finished the half strongly, scoring the first goal of the game through Karen Kennedy.

Additional points from Grace O'Brien, Eimear Hefferenan and Casey Hennessy kept the score level at 0-9 to 1-6 at halftime.

Galway started the half with energy again and scored through Mallon's fine strike in the 39th minute.

Points from O'Reilly and Carrie Dolan extended Galway's lead to six points in the 46th minute.

Galway's momentum continued until the final whistle and they won by seven points to secure their place at Croke Park.

In the other semi-final, Cork secured their third consecutive Irish Championship victory, beating Waterford 1-21 to 1-11.

Waterford held the lead for much of the first half and scored the first goal of the game through Beth Carton.

Among the players to shine in a difficult first half for Cork was Saoirse McCarthy, who equalised just before the break before Abbie Flynn put Waterford back in front.

However, Cork took the initiative in the second half, with goals from Amy O'Connor and Sorcha McCartan putting them ahead 0-16 to 1-9 after 45 minutes.

Cork sealed the win through substitute Orlaith Mullins, who scored in the 61st minute.
