Brighton reportedly set to make Evan Ferguson available on loan in January

Brighton and Ireland striker Evan Ferguson is set to be made available on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Ferguson has struggled for game time this season under new manager Fabian Hürzeler, where he has made just one start in 12 games.

The form of Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro, along with the arrival of Georginio Rutter also has not helped Ferguson, with Welbeck scoring six goals so far this season.

He scored his only league goal of the season against Wolves in October. Ferguson also scored for Ireland against Finland in the Nations League.

The Ireland striker has started two games in the League Cup, but Brighton were knocked out of the last 16 against Liverpool.

The Telegraph article mentioned Leicester City, Fulham, West Ham and Newcastle United as teams that could be interested in a striker in January.

Ferguson signed a new six-year contract last year, and Brighton will unlikely want to sell him on a permanent basis.

The 20-year-old scored his first goal for Brighton on December 31st 2022 against Arsenal, and continued his form into 2023, with a hat-trick against Newcastle in August last year.

However, injuries, new management and competition for places at Brighton has seen his development hindered.

Brighton currently sit in fifth place in the table, level on points with Arsenal in fourth.
