New Manchester United signing Bryan Mbeumo has revealed he is delighted to be working alongside Bruno Fernandes after completing his move to Old Trafford.
Cameroonian striker Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and provided seven assists for Brentford in the Premier League last season, signed a five-year deal last week, becoming United's third signing of the summer.
When asked on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast who he would most like to play with, Mbeumo told the former United defender: “Definitely Bruno. Of course, yeah.
“You've seen all of that in recent years. He can shoot, he can cross and he can make incredible passes. Yes, for a striker it's just a joy.”
Mbeumo will be hoping to establish a good rapport with United's Portuguese star both in and out of training before the team kick off the 2025/26 season at home to Arsenal on August 17.
“I think it's a little bit of everything. Everyone has their own experience. So it's always nice to be with someone like that,” Mbeumo said.
But ultimately, I think when you're as smart as he is on the field, you don't have to think too much. You just have to make a run and he'll always put you in the right place.
“But of course, you can have a little chat to explain to him what passes suit me best and how I feel most comfortable when I have the ball.
“But at a certain point there's only one way, even if it's not the one you like: you have to make a dash and he'll get the ball to the right place.”
Mbeumo's arrival at Old Trafford follows the signings of Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and Paraguay left-back Diego Leon from Cerro Porteño.
United have been linked with Ollie Watkins in recent times (RB Leipzig's Benjamin Cesko is also being considered) and Mbeumo described his former Brentford team-mate as the “perfect striker”.
