Legendary Bayern and Belgium goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff, who played in Oleg Blokhin's farewell match, has put up for auction in Paris a unique collection of T-shirts, including Diego Maradona's iconic T-shirt from the 1986 World Cup semi-final in Mexico, Telegraaf reports. Previously, the Argentine's torn T-shirt was sold for a record amount.

In 2023, the 72-year-old European vice-champion Pfaff's collection was presented in a temporary museum in his hometown of Beveren. However, the museum closed last summer, so the goalkeeper had to think about where to “hide” the relics.
“I have amassed a wonderful collection over the course of my career. It would be a shame if, after the museum closes, it gathers dust somewhere in the attic. I do not want to pass this responsibility on to my three daughters in the future,” said Jean-Marie Pfaff .
The football legend hopes that the football relics will reach the real fans. The collection will be exhibited for the last time on May 6 at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. It includes, among others, his Beveren shirt from the 1975/1976 season, the shirt he exchanged with the legendary Johan Cruyff after his debut match for Belgium against the Netherlands in 1976, as well as several shirts from the European and World Cups. However, the absolute gem of the collection is the Maradona kit that Pfaff exchanged with the Argentine superstar after the 1986 World Cup semi-final.

By the way, in the summer of 2024, Pfaff already put Maradona's legendary T-shirt up for auction. Put up for auction at Sotheby's online auction with a starting price of 640,000 euros, it was estimated at 730,000 to 1.1 million euros, but it never found a buyer.
