Highlights from qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps
Lando Norris beat his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri by less than a tenth of a second in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, while Lewis Hamilton ended up 16th after suffering the disappointment of his mistake.
Norris surprised Piastri, who had been ahead of him all weekend, with an impressive first lap in Q3 to give him his fourth pole of the season and the chance to close the nine-point gap in the Drivers' Championship.
Charles Leclerc also produced an impressive lap to take third behind Saturday's sprint winner Max Verstappen, who changed his qualifying set-up to increase downforce, putting him out of contention with the McLarens.

Lewis Hamilton had his lap time disqualified for going off the track, resulting in his retirement from Q1 at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Hamilton failed to make it past Q1 for the second time in a row after crashing out in the first sprint qualifying on Friday. He was confident of progressing but his best lap was cancelled for cutting Turn 4 at Raidillon, dropping him to 16th.
Kimi Antonelli also dropped out in Q1, finishing 18th, while his Mercedes team-mate George Russell qualified sixth, just behind Williams' Alex Albon.
Yuki Tsunoda produced a top result for Red Bull in seventh place ahead of the Racing Bulls' Isak Hajjar and Liam Lawson, while Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto surprised with a tenth place finish.

Norris responds when needed
Norris said he was “not too upset” to finish third in sprint qualifying behind Verstappen and Piastri, and maintained that position during the sprint.
With Norris leading Q1, the McLaren duo were set for a tough fight for pole position and the British driver delivered, setting a time of 1:40.562 that Piastri was unable to beat twice.
