Bayern Munich close to €75m deal for Liverpool striker Luis Diaz

Liverpool are on the verge of completing a €75m deal with Bayern Munich for Reds striker Luis Diaz, according to PA news agency.

Bayern have reportedly reopened transfer discussions after their opening bid of €67.5m was rejected last week.

A €75 million deal for Diaz is said to be close to being finalised between the Bundesliga champions and Liverpool.

Liverpool are currently on a pre-season tour of Asia and Diaz was still with the squad as they arrived in Tokyo on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was unable to feature in Liverpool's 4-2 friendly defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday as speculation over his future continued to mount.

After the game, head coach Arne Slot said: “As for Lucho (Diaz), there have been a lot of rumors around him lately and I can’t go into that.

“He trains very well with us, but we have decided not to put him on the pitch for now.”

“I'm used to communicating regularly with most of my players. I can't go into more detail about that.”

Liverpool have been active in the transfer market and have strengthened their attacking line with the arrival of Florian Wirtz, who made his first start as a false nine on Saturday, and Hugo Ekitikey.

New arrivals from Merseyside also include Jeremie Frimpong, left-back Milos Kerkez and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, all of whom have signed contracts; all three played in the second half of Saturday's friendly.
