On Sunday, January 11, the 63,000-capacity Alinma Bank Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, hosted the final of the Spanish Super Cup between Barcelona, who had been defeated in the Champions League by Chelsea, and Real Madrid. The Catalans defeated their bitter rivals and won the trophy for the second year in a row and for the 16th time in history.

In a match in which Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was on the Madrid bench, the rivals managed to score three goals in stoppage time before the first half. As a result, in the second half, a ricochet from the foot of Madrid player Asensio decided everything in favor of the Catalans – 3:2 (Rafinha, 36, 73, Lewandowski, 45+4 – Vinicius, 45+2, Garcia, 45+6). Even the removal from the field in the 90+1 minute of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong did not help the Royal Club.
We should add that in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona defeated Athletic (5:0), and Real Madrid defeated Atletico (2:1).
