The United States welcomed 4.5 million tourists last month, down 9.7 percent from March 2024, according to data released Monday by the International Trade Administration.
In a worst-case scenario, the impact of reduced travel and boycotts of US goods this year is projected to amount to 0.3% of gross domestic product, equivalent to approximately US$90 billion (€79 billion).
Many potential tourists are expected to reconsider their travel plans to the United States due to increasing hostility at the border, as well as increased geopolitical conflicts and global economic instability.
