A motorcyclist who fell into a massive hole in a Seoul street has been found dead after an overnight search, authorities in the South Korean capital said.
A landslide about 20 meters wide and deep struck an intersection in Myeongil-dong in eastern Seoul on Monday afternoon, swallowing a motorcyclist and injuring a woman whose truck was passing by, officials said.
The motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, was found before midday on Tuesday, emergency services spokesman Kim Chang-sub said at a press briefing.
Mr Kim said the man was found wearing a helmet and motorcycle boots, and rescuers found his Japanese motorcycle and mobile phone before reaching his body.
Rescuers had to use excavators, shovels and other equipment to search for him, Mr Kim said.
He added that the woman, who did not fall into the hole, received minor injuries.
The causes of the sinkhole are currently being investigated.
