Andrew Bailey, who is the attorney general for Missouri, has been designated as co-deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as stated by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
"Excited to welcome Andrew Bailey as our new FBI Co-Deputy Director," Blanche posted. "As the Attorney General of Missouri, he confronted the swamp, battled against a weaponized government, and upheld the Constitution. Now he is bringing that fight to the DOJ."

This is the first occasion in FBI history that the organization has appointed two deputy directors. Last month, current Deputy Director Dan Bongino encountered increasing backlash regarding the Justice Department’s choice to withhold further records from its inquiries into the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Bongino expressed dissatisfaction with the administration’s management of the situation, according to sources.
"I am honored to share that I have accepted the position of Co-Deputy Director of the FBI," Bailey announced on X. "I am grateful to @POTUS and @AGPamBondi for this chance to contribute to the mission of Making America Safe Again. I will defend America and uphold the Constitution."
"The FBI, as the premier investigative agency of the federal government under the Department of Justice, will continually bring forth the finest talent this nation has to offer to accomplish the objectives outlined when an overwhelming majority of American citizens re-elected President Donald J. Trump. Andrew Bailey will play a crucial role in this significant mission, and I look forward to our ongoing fight to preserve America together," FBI Director Kash Patel stated on Monday evening.
