Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian delegation, which left for the United States to meet with US President's Special Representative Steve Witkoff, will discuss accelerating the supply of weapons that partners will purchase for Ukraine. He said this at a briefing on Friday, August 29.
“We are buying weapons from the United States. We have several partners who are ready to finance this… We want this corridor to work and work faster,” Zelenskyy called the first goal of the visit.
The second topic for the meeting, according to the president, will be Russia's demonstration of its unwillingness for a diplomatic settlement, in particular, with its strikes on Ukrainian cities.
To this end, Zelensky noted, Ukraine has convened a meeting of the UN Security Council, at which Ukraine will be represented by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The president also noted that OP Chairman Andriy Yermak will hold a direct meeting with Steve Witkoff, which will also be attended by Marco Rubio and Serhiy Kyslytsia, who will “discuss what we agreed with President Trump.”
Zelensky added that Ukraine is currently working in several areas, including with Turkey, and will hold a series of negotiations with European partners next week.
