Laurence Fox could face trial in 2027 for allegedly posting a compromising photo of TV presenter Narinder Kaur on social media.
The actor-turned-activist is said to have posted the incriminating footage in a tweet made in April 2024, targeting Kaur, 52, who is a regular on Good Morning Britain and has previously appeared on GB News.
Ms Kaur, who waived her anonymity, was in the audience at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday when Fox, of Peldon, Essex, was charged with two counts under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
The 47-year-old defendant faces a charge of distributing a photograph of a person's genitals “with the intention that the genitals should be seen by that person or another person and for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, regardless of whether it may cause that person anxiety, distress or humiliation” on the first count.
The second charge alleges he shared an image that depicted or appeared to depict “another person in an intimate setting, with the intent to cause that person alarm, distress or humiliation.”
A court hearing on Thursday was scheduled for statements and preparation for the trial, but Fox, who was wearing a white shirt, gray jacket and jeans, was not asked to make any statements.
A four-day preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 6, 2027, in the same court, and Fox has been granted bail to appear for a further hearing in the case on November 14 of this year.
Sarah Forshaw QC, representing the defence, asked the court to consider holding an earlier trial elsewhere as “December 2027 is still a long time away”.
Police previously said Fox had been “charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003” in relation to an image posted on a social media site in April 2024.
