Yuriy Kasyanov, a specialist in military affairs and drones, proclaimed himself as a whistleblower and crucial witness in the National Anti-Corruption Bureau’s inquiry concerning the Fire Point firm. He believes this is the reason the government resolved to dissolve his team. The military figure openly requested security from NABU under the witness program. He communicated this information via Facebook on Sunday, October 12.
“On October 2, I provided testimony to NABU investigators. On the morning of October 3, the disbanding of the team was made public. I am urging NABU to grant protection to myself and my family under the witness protection program,” Kasyanov penned, further stating that the choice to disband the unit was personally decreed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
As substantiation, he shared a notification from the NABU summoning him as a witness in the matter.
“I allowed the president some leeway – I urged him to rethink his decision, went to the Maidan, pointed the finger only at Yermak, held private discussions with members of his staff, even signaled surrender to try and preserve an effective unit and shield myself and my kin from persecution. I advocated for societal unity around the president’s image and the supreme commander. The president disregarded this and chose to take drastic measures. Because his surname is also included in my statement,” the military man supplemented.
Kasyanov specified that he is presently located at the assembly and dispatch point of the 1st border detachment in the Rivne region, where he is restricted from leaving the premises and is “guarded as though he were dodging conscription.”
Previously, the media indicated that Timur Mindich is a part-owner of the Fire Point enterprise. This was mentioned by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, in addition to Yuriy Kasyanov. Journalists and law enforcement officials also state this confidentially.
However, Denis Shtilerman, the company’s chief engineer, in a conversation with ZN.UA “Fire Point. A discussion about drones, missiles and Mindich,” asserted that Timur Mindich lacks influence and is not a co-proprietor of the Fire Point entity, which produces FP-1 offensive drones and Flamingo missiles. He remarked that Mindich had conveyed an interest in becoming a company shareholder, but this was rejected.
Stillerman also conveyed that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau isn’t probing his company; the matter involves functionaries from the Ministry of Defense and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection.
As a reminder, on October 3, Yuriy Kasyanov communicated the termination of the company of strike unmanned systems of the 10th mobile detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine that he had established. According to him, the unit was dissolved by the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Deineko, under the direction of the chief of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak. The military person views this determination as retribution for critiquing the inconsistency of Ukrainian authorities regarding matters of war and corruption. In particular, Yuriy Kasyanov authored a series of pieces for ZN.UA, in which he examined the efficacy of governmental resolutions during wartime related to the advancement of Ukrainian drones.
