Indonesian authorities are searching for two armed Australians suspected of killing an Australian tourist and wounding another at a villa on the resort island of Bali.
The incident, which occurred just after midnight on Friday at Casa Santisya near Munggu Beach in Badung district, left 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic from Melbourne dead.
The second victim, a 34-year-old man, also from Melbourne, was injured, Badung police chief Arif Batubara said.
“We cannot yet determine the cause of this incident,” he said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
Two Australians were taken to hospitals in Denpasar, the regional capital.
According to police, there were three rooms and five guests in the villa at the time of the shooting.
Mr Batubara said the spouses of two victims and another foreign tourist were also there.
Mr Radmanovic was killed in the bathroom, where police found 17 shell casings and two intact bullets.
At least three witnesses at the villa told investigators that two armed men, one wearing an orange jacket and dark helmet and the other wearing a dark green jacket, black mask and dark helmet, arrived on a scooter around midnight.
Mr Radmanovic's wife, Gurdeas Yazmin, 30, told police she was awakened by her husband's screams and took cover under a blanket after hearing several shots.
She later discovered the body of her husband and the wounded Australian, whose wife also reported seeing the attackers.
Authorities have contacted the Australian consulate in Bali and if the victim's family agrees, an autopsy will be carried out, Mr Batubara said.
