Spearheaded by a last-minute touchdown rush by Mendoza, the Hoosiers’ unblemished campaign concluded in sensational fashion this past January, when the squad triumphed over the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 for their first-ever championship.

Indiana Head Coach Curt Cignetti is also anticipated to attend.

The White House engagement is an honor granted to the championship-winning teams in both collegiate and professional athletics. It’s frequently combined with visits to Capitol Hill but the source was unable to verify whether the team’s agenda would encompass a journey to Congress.

President Donald Trump welcomed numerous NCAA collegiate champions to the White House last month.

The Hoosiers’ projected visit arises amidst Trump’s endeavors to “preserve” college sports. The president authorized an executive directive last month urging Congress to “promptly” approve legislation that addresses the future of competition and opportunity in all college athletics, notably football and basketball.

Concurrently, the Hoosiers’ championship also unfolds as name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreements have been scrutinized by the White House and lawmakers in Washington regarding pay-for-play and athlete eligibility.

Aspiring to repeat as national victors, the Hoosiers concluded spring practice last week with a revamped squad that showcases prominent transfer portal acquisitions, quarterback Josh Hoover and wide receiver Nick Marsh.
