Summer growth in passenger traffic continued in July at Cork and Dublin Airports, with Dublin Airport welcoming over 100,000 passengers daily, while Cork Airport saw passenger traffic increase by 15 per cent.
July was the busiest month ever for Cork and Dublin Airports, with Cork Airport handling 378,000 passengers, up 15 per cent on July 2024, and Dublin Airport handling 3.75 million passengers, up 6.9 per cent on July 2024.
At Dublin Airport, demand for air travel was so high that more than 100,000 passengers passed through the airport's two terminals every day in July, and on at least 17 days during the month more than 120,000 passengers landed and took off.
Airport operator DAA said the increase in passenger numbers was due to a significant influx of tourists, as well as many Irish people travelling abroad for their summer holidays.
Despite the congestion in the terminals, airport staff were able to keep passengers happy, with 95 per cent of the record number of departing passengers clearing security in under 20 minutes – a result that would rival Europe's best airports this summer.
The busiest day of the month at Dublin Airport was Sunday 27 July, when 126,620 passengers used the airport.
The number of passengers passing through Dublin Airport during the peak summer months of June, July and August is expected to exceed 11 million, with the airport handling a total of 7.3 million passengers in June and July.
DAA CEO Kenny Jacobs said: “Demand for arrivals and departures at Dublin Airport has never been higher, with record figures in July driven by the high number of tourists and visitors from overseas, as well as Irish residents heading abroad for the annual summer holidays.”
“The high passenger numbers in June and July mean we are revising upwards our total passenger numbers forecast for the year and we now expect around 36.2 million passengers to use Dublin Airport by the end of the year.
Speaking about Cork Airport, Mr Jacobs said: “Cork was again Ireland’s fastest growing airport in July, with passenger traffic up 15 per cent compared to July 2025.”
