
Former Besiktas and Nigeria international Michael Eneramo, 40, died suddenly on the football field during a friendly match, the official website of the national federation reports. The famous Nigerian goalkeeper, who was born into a royal family and scored a goal for the national team, passed away earlier.

Former forward Eneramo played the first half, and five minutes into the second half he collapsed on the pitch. Attempts to resuscitate the player were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to preliminary data, the cause of Michael Eneramo's death was sudden cardiac arrest.
“This is terrible. I have no words. I can only pray that God will grant him eternal peace and also give his loved ones and the Nigerian football family the strength to bear this loss,” said the general secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi .
Michael Eneramo, nicknamed Tank, spent most of his career playing for Turkish clubs Sivasspor, Besiktas, Karabukspor, Basaksehir and Manisaspor. The goal-scoring striker also played for Nigeria's Lobi Stars, Tunisia's Esperance, Algeria's Algiers, Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabaab and Al-Etifaq, and Cyprus' Turk Ocagi, where he ended his career in 2018.
