The rarity went under the hammer for $145,648, but due to a 23% commission, its actual price was $179,207. The Barcelona jersey became the most expensive of Maradona's club jerseys ever sold at auction.
The legendary Argentine's number 10 shirt was torn during the 1984 Spanish Cup final at the Santiago Bernabeu, in which the Catalans lost to Atletico (0:1). That match ended in a massive brawl.

By the way, Maradona's red and blue T-shirt has its own story. After the genius took it off, it was given to a woman who collected T-shirts to wash and prepare them for the next match. However, Diego's T-shirt became unusable, and the woman, in order not to throw it away, gave it to a friend who owned a bar. Later, the establishment was inherited by the friend's son, who three decades later wrote to the auction site Matchday Football Auctions, saying that he had a treasure. It is clear that before the sale, the lot underwent strict certification and thorough verification of authenticity.

Previously, “FACTS” reported that Maradona's stolen “Golden Ball” from the 1986 World Cup was put up for sale for millions.
