The spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, Prosecutor Karolina Stocka-Mycek, confirmed to PAP the information provided by Wirtualna Polska that Mateusz W., a TVN24 presenter, was detained by the CBA. “The man is a suspect in an investigation in which the former police commander Zbigniew M. is also a suspect,” the prosecutor told PAP.

Stocka-Mycek said the prosecutor's office will not be releasing any information on the matter at this time.

PAP confirmed to the press office of the District Court in Wrocław that the court agreed with the prosecutor's request and arrested Mateusz W. for three months.

The TVN press office announced that the journalist – in connection with the charges brought against him – was immediately suspended from his duties until the matter is resolved.

At the end of March, a Wrocław court dismissed the appeal and upheld the three-month pretrial detention of former Police Chief Commander Zbigniew M.

Prosecutor Stocka-Mycek reported earlier that the former police chief was charged with fiscal and economic crimes, as well as influencing the course and hindering investigations. According to the prosecutor's office, he was supposed to be operating in an organized criminal group.

“The allegations concern activities in 2024 and included Zbigniew M. disclosing details of investigations or attempting to obstruct them by demanding the dismissal of the prosecutor's office,” the spokeswoman said at the time.

Rafał P., a former member of the management board of Orlen Ochrona, was also arrested in this investigation at the beginning of March. (PAP)
