Stars at this week's US Open remember the remarkable putt from Tiger Woods on the 72nd hole at Torrey Pines that forced a play-off with Rocco Mediate.
On the 10th anniversary of Tiger Woods winning his 14th major at Torrey Pines, some of golf’s biggest names have been remembering the incredible putt he made to force a US Open play-off.
With Rocco Mediate waiting in the clubhouse on one under par, Woods needed to birdie the 72nd hole to take the tournament into a fifth day, and he gave himself a chance with a pin-high wedge to 12 feet.
Facing a tricky putt on a firm and bumpy green, Woods put the pain from his knee injury to the back of his mind and sent the putt on its way, and his ball caught just enough of the hole to drop and prompt one of the biggest celebrations of his career.
Woods went on to edge out the gallant Mediate after 19 holes of a tense play-off the following day, but his putt on the 18th remains one of the most iconic moments of his illustrious career.
Ahead of this year’s US Open at Shinnecock Hills, the likes of Graeme McDowell, Henrik Stenson and Tommy Fleetwood have had their say on “that” putt from Woods. Watch the video above to see their reaction …
