The lawyers of the President, according to sources familiar with the discussions said that the President should not sit for extensive interviews, and any interview should have parameters. One option discussed with the President, to force him to answer questions in writing and to avoid a sedentary full interview, the sources said.
The lawyer for the President, Jay Sekulow, declined to comment when contacted ABC news Tuesday night, saying, “we do not discuss actual or alleged conversations between our legal Department and the office of the special adviser”.
The White house counsel Ty Cobb also refused to comment, saying that the legal team of the President not to discuss the talks with the special adviser.
