Katy Perry Among Six Female Crew Members Launched into Space on Blue Origin Mission

Singer Katy Perry exclaimed “Oh my God!” as she was launched into space as part of a six-woman crew aboard Jeff Bezos' New Shepard NS-31 spacecraft as part of the Blue Origin program.

The Firework star was spotted in the rocket as it lifted off from the West Texas launch pad, before a countdown began in mission control before flames burst from the bottom of the craft and it successfully took to the air.

Mission control reported that “everything looked good” as the rocket reached “supersonic” speed and shot skyward, while Perry on board screamed in delight.

The two ships then separated at 28,000 feet, reaching the edge of space, and Perry exclaimed, “Oh, my God!” when she was shown the Moon.

The crew briefly unbuckled from their seats and experienced weightlessness for the first time before returning for the descent.
