Haley Joel Osment charged with cocaine possession and public intoxication

Oscar-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment faces charges of public intoxication and cocaine possession after his arrest earlier this month at a northern California ski resort.

The Mono County Prosecutor's Office announced charges have been filed against the 37-year-old actor, who rose to fame as a child star in the films “The Sixth Sense” and “Artificial Intelligence.”

District Attorney David Anderson said Osment was arrested April 8 at Mammoth Mountain Resort on suspicion of public intoxication.

The actor is due to appear in court on July 7.

Osment rose to fame and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in M. Night Shyamalan's thriller The Sixth Sense, where he starred alongside Bruce Willis.

Two years later, he starred in Steven Spielberg's film Artificial Intelligence and has been actively involved in voice acting ever since.

He has also appeared in television series such as The Kominsky Method and What We Do in the Shadows.

Osment was one of many people who lost their homes in the devastating Eaton Fire that ripped through the Altadena area of Los Angeles in January.

In 2006, he was charged with drunk driving and marijuana possession after crashing into a mailbox in Los Angeles and breaking a rib.
