The door was kept ajar by former Vice President Kamala Harris regarding a prospective third presidential bid, stating that she is "contemplating it," which sparked applause from a significant portion of the attendees at the National Action Network Assembly on Friday.

"Indeed, perhaps I will. I am pondering it; I am pondering it," Harris stated in response to Rev. Al Sharpton’s direct inquiry during their discussion at the New York City convention he organizes, where he explicitly questioned if she intends to compete again.

Harris mentioned that she has spent the past year journeying throughout the nation, expressing that the prevailing conditions in governance and politics are inadequate.

"Over the past year, I’ve been traveling the country, dedicating considerable time in the South and various other regions. I’ve gained a very clear understanding that the existing situation is unsatisfactory and has been so for numerous individuals for an extended period. A key concern is the necessity to eliminate some governmental red tape and recognize that the populace desires advancement rather than mere processes. This is the task that requires attention," Harris expressed.

Throughout her dialogue with Sharpton, Harris encountered various chants amid her comments, notably "run again."

The National Action Network Convention is anticipated to be the premier gathering of potential Democratic presidential aspirants for 2028, featuring appearances from figures like former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly, and Rep. Ro Khanna.

Virtually every prospective candidate has either voiced interest or refrained from dismissing the notion of running for the presidency.

Numerous potential presidential contenders have, thus far, addressed the Iran conflict during their conversations with Sharpton throughout the four-day assembly – Harris included.

On Friday, she denounced Trump’s approach to the Iran war and asserted that he has weakened America’s ties with international partners, causing the nation to forfeit its global prominence.

"Let us first acknowledge that the current president is the first United States president since the Second World War who lacks belief in the alliances we maintain with allied nations. He dismisses their strength, disregards the historical context, and overlooks the significance of these relationships in influencing our global standing, global sway, and, indeed, our national security," Harris remarked.

Harris indicated that under a hypothetical second term for Trump, America is forfeiting its international leverage, and reclaiming it will necessitate "significant" endeavor.

While Trump has insisted that the U.S. "eradicated" Iran’s nuclear initiative last June, Harris appeared to suggest that the ongoing conflict in Iran demonstrated that this assertion was untrue.

"This individual claimed to have eliminated their nuclear stockpile. He stated he ‘obliterated’ it, employing his characteristic exaggerated language, ‘obliterated,’ which is an unambiguous term, signifying that you eliminated it," Harris elaborated. "However, it is evident that he failed to achieve that."

Harris is slated to engage in fundraising activities for Democrats spanning the South this spring, shifting her emphasis toward aiding the party’s triumph in the forthcoming midterm elections next fall, concurrent with the conclusion of her book tour.

Her itinerary for April encompasses fundraisers benefiting the Democratic parties of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, as well as delivering remarks at the Arkansas Democratic Party’s yearly gala.
