The legendary former coach of Partizan and three national basketball teams, Duško Vujosevic, has died in Belgrade at the age of 68, reports kurir.rs. The famous Olympic champion, who was recognized as the best in Europe three times, has passed away.

In the last years of his life, Vujošević suffered from kidney disease and was on dialysis. In May 2025, he underwent a kidney transplant in Minsk, and in March 2026, he was hospitalized in Belgrade with pneumonia. In addition, the specialist had diabetes, which over the years led to the development of gangrene. In September 2017, he had to amputate the fourth toe on his left foot.

During his illustrious career, Vujosevic won the Adriatic League five times, the Yugoslav Championship twice, the Serbian and Montenegrin Championship three times, the Serbian Championship six times, and the Korac Cup. At the Euroleague level, the specialist led Partizan to third place in the 1987/1988 season, and in 2010 he reached the Final Four. In the 2008/2009 season, the Serb was recognized as the Coach of the Year after he led the Belgrade team to the quarterfinals for the second time in a row.

In addition to Partizan, Vujošević worked for Crvena Zvezda, the Spanish Oximes, the Italian Brescia, Pistoia and Scavolini, the French Limoges and the Russian CSKA. It was while leading a team from an aggressor country that he became the first to beat an NBA club in the USA (Cleveland Cavaliers – 90:87).

At the national team level, Duško Vujošević led the Yugoslavia U-18 youth team, with which he won the 1988 European Championship, the Serbia and Montenegro national team, with which he participated in the 2003 EuroBasket, as well as the national teams of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Previously, “FACTS” reported that the legendary Soviet basketball player, who twice won the Olympic Games and survived the amputation of her leg, had died.
