LONDON — A lone assailant was fatally shot external to the Israeli consulate in Istanbul and two more armed individuals sustained injuries on Tuesday, Turkish law enforcement officials informed ABC News.
The individuals, donned in combat fatigues, moved towards the consulate prior to becoming involved in an armed conflict with armed officers and security personnel. Two law enforcement agents were harmed during the skirmish, authorities stated.
The Israeli consulate within Istanbul remains non-operational since Oct 7., 2023.
