“The entire National Hockey League family extends its deepest condolences to the Pierce family on the passing of Jessie and her three young children. Jessie loved our sport and was a valued member of the NHL.com team for a decade. She will be greatly missed,” the NHL said in a statement.
According to the publication, firefighters were called to the scene at around 5:30 a.m. by the journalist's neighbors. They saw flames coming from under the roof and assumed there were still people inside the house. Upon arrival, firefighters found the building fully engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, the bodies of Jessie and her children, as well as their dead dog, were later found at the scene of the fire. Pierce's husband and the children's father, Mike Hinrichs, was away on business at the time of the tragedy.

Ironically, the day before the tragedy, Jessie had fun with her children — 8-year-old Hudson, 6-year-old Caden, and 4-year-old Avery — in the city, posting pictures of the little ones on the social network X. In one of the photos, the children are enjoying ice cream, and in another, the journalist's youngest son is eating a hamburger.
