A tragedy has struck the family of 29-year-old Eduard Löwen, a former German youth international and current MLS player. His 28-year-old beautiful wife Ilona has died of cancer, reports blick.cz. The Veres player's wife had previously passed away, leaving him with a young son.

When in 2024 it became known that his beloved had been diagnosed with brain cancer, the midfielder even interrupted his career to be with Ilona. “My wife has serious health problems. Her condition worsened and she had to undergo surgery. That's when it turned out that she had cancer,” he said at the time.

“After a two-year battle with cancer, Ilona Loewen passed away this morning. We mourn with Ed and all those affected by this loss and ask the City community to pray for them during this difficult time. Ilona was a wonderful example of love, humility and kindness, and we will miss her dearly,” St. Louis City FC said in a statement.
We should add that Eduard Löwen, who, in addition to German citizenship, also has a passport from the aggressor country (his parents Iryna and Andriy moved to Germany from Siberia in 1995), played for Nuremberg, Hertha, Augsburg, and Bochum. In 2023, the former Germany youth team player moved to the MLS club St. Louis City, where in his first season he competed for the title of best rookie of the year with Lionel Messi himself.
