According to data from TrendForce analysts, the global laptop market may face a significant increase in prices in 2026. Experts name two factors that will provoke a price increase: weak demand and rising prices for key components.
Main theses:
- Experts predict that laptop prices could jump by as much as 40% this year
- In addition, identical trends are expected in the smartphone market.
Laptop Market: What to Expect in 2026
According to analysts, if manufacturers are determined to maintain current margins, the retail price of a mass-produced laptop could increase by almost 40%, TrendForce writes.
In recent months, the supply of DRAM and NAND Flash for laptops has significantly decreased.
We also cannot ignore the fact that memory prices have increased, and the shortage of some components has become more noticeable.
Processors are also creating additional pressure. Intel has already raised prices for some budget and older mobile CPU models by more than 15%, and further price increases are expected for mass and more productive platforms in the second quarter of 2026.

Analysts are also considering a scenario where memory and processor prices increase simultaneously.
If this really happens, their combined share of the cost of a laptop could increase from approximately 45% to 58%.
Experts point out that current market dynamics currently indicate that laptops will increase in price by tens of percent over the course of the year.
