It would seem like such a small thing, but the devil is in the details.
Young people, as is customary, decided to get married. The scheme was “perfect”: they met in Maria's apartment, and the groom's apartment was rented out profitably. Very convenient, right? He is saving for his car, and they live in it. And then the girl had to go to study – she planned for two weeks, but it turned out to be almost three.
The groom stayed on the farm. They called each other, wrote to each other – romance. But there was one more inhabitant left at home – a violet. The same one, with plump velvety leaves and purple flowers.
It wasn't just a flowerpot, but an inheritance from her grandmother (along with the apartment, by the way). Her grandmother used to tell little Mariyka: “This is a flower-amulet. Take care of it, it drives away bad people.”
Maria returns home, and the flower is gone. It died. It was simply not watered. Although the girl asked several times on the phone:
— Are you watering the violet?
“Of course!” the beloved answered cheerfully.
But, as it turned out, he was simply “scoring.” That is, he was lying.
It would seem that it's not the most important thing in the world to water a flower. When the time comes, he'll water it. But he just kept forgetting, even though the bottle of water was right on the windowsill. Just reach out and that's it.
Maria looked at the dead plant and felt sick to her stomach. The flower was alive. All it needed was a little water.
And then the girl was struck by a realization: what if it was a bird? Or a hamster? What if she left her child with such a person? With a man who confidently says “Of course!”, when in reality this “Of course!” is a small lie, but it is. At this moment, someone he was supposed to be watching over could be dying of thirst or in danger.
Suddenly Maria saw everything that she had tried not to notice before. The groom lived purely for himself. He saved his money, tried to live off his bride, didn't get into trouble, didn't support her, just waved her off: “Everything will be great! How else? By the way, what are we having for dinner?”
And when Maria asked, “Do you love me?”, he answered in exactly the same tone as he had about the violet: “Of course!”.
They broke up. Although the groom got terribly angry, accused her, and then moved on to threats, because now he would have no income from his apartment.
And she mentally thanked the violet. Grandma wasn't lying – the flower really protected her and “took” the wrong person away.
All that remains is a patterned pot, a house for a dead plant. The girl hasn't gotten a new one yet. She's still digesting the past.

Is such domestic irresponsibility and “little lies” a sufficient reason to end a relationship?

Bearded Pike 🚩 Yes, it's a marker 09.02.2026 12:20 One hundred percent – my grandmother's “talisman” with a conspiracy worked. I also made my son speak a silver ring with an engraving – and it also worked. Let us think that this is some sequence of ordinary interconnected events: a flower-inattention-all the other “bells”. But that could be the course of the conspiracy. We have, together with the spelled ring, a young cat, that day, jumped out of the balcony … which my parents gave my son on his coming of age 👍 1 💯 1 + Reply
