American alpine skier Breeze Johnson, 30, who became the Milan 2026 Olympic champion in downhill skiing and broke her gold medal, accepted a marriage proposal right in the finish area of the competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo, NBC reports.

It is noteworthy that the athlete's fiancé, Connor Watkins, who is in the construction business, asked his beloved to marry him an hour after she fell on the super-G slalom course, but, fortunately, she was able to reach the finish line herself.
“There's only one way I want to spend the rest of my life – it's with you. I love you, Breeze. Will you marry me?” Connor said, getting down on one knee. The girl agreed. At the same time, Connor gave Breeze a silver ring with a blue stone and a wooden plaque engraved with lines from Taylor Swift's song The Alchemy – “Honestly, who are we to fight alchemy?”

The couple reportedly met on the dating app Bumble in the summer of 2023 (after Breezy Johnson had publicly come out as bisexual). Watkins didn't know she was a famous skier and was a little confused when he realized it about 10 minutes into their first date.
Johnson admitted that she suspected that Watkins might propose to her in Italy, because “she might have told him earlier that she had always dreamed of getting married at the Olympics.”
