“Medved returned home today. This is due to problems caused by alcohol consumption. We take violations of the rules very seriously and will act promptly.”
“I won't go into details, I'll just say that it didn't happen on the ski jump or during coaching, but in my free time at these Games,” said Janne Hänninen, head of the elite sports department of the Finnish Olympic Committee .
“I made a mistake and I am very sorry. I want to apologize to the entire Finnish team, athletes and fans. I wish the team peace and be able to focus on the Olympics,” said Igor Medved , who has been leading the Finnish national team since June 2024.

According to yle.fi, the previous evening the coach was present at an event dedicated to the gold medal won by the Slovenian mixed ski jumping team. Among the jumpers and coaches were his friends.
“After the competition, I was invited to celebrate Slovenia's gold medal. I didn't eat anything and after that the alcohol did its thing,” said Igor Medved, adding that he would no longer comment on the issue publicly.

By the way, Medved was once a ski jumper himself and even once (on his 20th birthday) climbed to the podium of a World Cup stage.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladislav Geraskevych was removed from the Olympic Games due to a “memory helmet.”
