Israel's bobsled team robbed during training ahead of debut at 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, New York Post reports
The incident occurred in the Czech Republic, where the representatives of the Promised Land were preparing for a historic start. The attackers broke into the athletes' rented apartment while they were away and stole equipment worth thousands of dollars, passports, suitcases and even shoes. Police are investigating the incident.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
According to the captain and ideological inspirer of the team, Adam Edelman, despite the theft, the bobsledders managed to return important documents, raise money for new equipment and continue training without delay. In the Olympic village in Cortina d'Ampezzo, it seems that nothing threatens the Israeli bobsledders anymore – the guys from Mossad are not sleeping there.
Interestingly, US-born Edelman, who competed in the skeleton event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, put together a bobsled team from scratch — via Instagram. The team includes a former rugby player, a hurdler, and a shot putter. Edelman initially bought the team's equipment with money he earned as an Uber driver and even put his retirement savings into the cause. Eventually, he managed to find a sponsor who gave the team a large sum of money on one condition: their sleds would not have advertising, but a quote from the Torah: “I did not know that God was in this place, but surely He is there.”

Incidentally, Adam Edelman's dream came true in January when it was announced that the Israeli team would receive a spot at the Olympics, after Great Britain decided to send only one bobsled team to Italy instead of two.
We would like to add that the men's bobsleigh competition will be held at the Olympic Games on February 16-17 (among the two-man bobsleigh) and on February 21-22 (among the four-man bobsleigh).
