A fan of Scottish club Aberdeen, who recently played against Shakhtar in the Conference League, was sentenced yesterday to 18 months in prison and a 10-year stadium ban for causing serious injuries to a player of his favorite team, SKY reports.
VIDEO OF THE DAY
The incident occurred on May 17 last year after the end of the Scottish Championship match between Dundee United and Aberdeen (2:1). One of the visiting team's ultras, 32-year-old David Gowens, upset by the defeat, tore up a plastic seat in the section and threw it towards the field. Unfortunately, the “projectile” flew into the head of then Aberdeen player Jack McKenzie, who was taken to hospital with a deep wound on his eyebrow and a large hematoma under his eye.

According to the prosecution, the fan's actions were “selfish, stupid, dangerous and completely irresponsible.” During questioning by the police, the fan (a single father, by the way) admitted that he had drunk half a liter of vodka before going to the match.
