Legendary Canadian goaltender Glen Hall, who set the NHL record for most consecutive games played by a goaltender, has died in hospital at the age of 94, the official website of the world's strongest hockey league reports. The legendary NHL goaltender, who became a minister and member of parliament, has passed away earlier.

Glenn Hall played in the NHL for Detroit, Chicago and St. Louis. Together with Chicago, the goalie won the Stanley Cup in 1961. Hall is the only goalie in the history of the league to have played more than 500 consecutive games (502 in the regular season and 552 including the playoffs). His record can be considered eternal, since goalies now never go a season without substitutions. The Canadian has participated in the NHL All-Star Games 13 times.

In 1975, Hall was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the first number under which the goaltender played for Chicago was permanently retired from circulation at the club.

Surprisingly, Hall played his entire career with the St. Louis Blues without a face mask. “Our number one priority was to stay alive,” the goalie said in an interview. “The second priority was to stop the puck.”
Glenn Hall was featured on a Canadian postage stamp and medallion in 2002, was named one of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players at the league's centennial celebration in 2017, and was inducted into the St. Louis Blues Hall of Fame in 2023. The legendary goalie's life was chronicled in the feature-length documentary “Mr. Goalie,” which premiered last October in Windsor, where he played in the junior hockey league.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that one of the greatest goalies in NHL history, whose game number has been permanently retired, has died.
