Recall that on Monday, the Lexus, in which the boxer was riding, crashed into a stationary truck at high speed in the capital of Lagos. The incident killed two people – friends and peers, as well as Joshua Cena's trainers Gami and Robert Lutz. Anthony was sitting behind the driver. They both survived.

The media voiced two versions of the causes of the accident. The first is that the driver exceeded the speed limit, overtook, and lost control. The second is that a tire burst, causing the car to sharply veer to the side.

“Anthony was discharged from the hospital, although he was depressed and emotional over the loss of two close friends: his fitness trainer, Sina Gami, and his trainer, Robert Lutz. He was declared fit to recover at home,” the publication quoted Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, as saying. “After his discharge, Anthony and his mother went to a funeral home in Lagos to pay their last respects to his two deceased friends, who were being prepared for repatriation scheduled for the evening.”
By the way, when Joshua, who escaped serious injury but is in a depressed state, was lying in the hospital, he was supported by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
“I wished him all the best and prayed for him. He assured me that the hospital was providing him with all possible assistance. I also spoke to Joshua's mother and prayed for her. She was very grateful,” the head of state wrote on his page in X.

The driver of the SUV, who could face charges of careless driving, has already been discharged from the hospital.
Recall that Anthony Joshua knocked out showman Jake Paul in Riyadh on December 20, after which he left for his parents' homeland in Nigeria. It was previously assumed that he would return to the ring in February-March, have another interim fight, and in the second half of the year meet Tyson Fury.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that the famous rival of Fury and Joshua, who had experienced a personal tragedy, beat a 17-year-old girl to death.
