
The legend of Vinnytsia football – former player, coach and functionary Pasha Kasanov – has died at the age of 72, the press service of FC Nyva reports. Previously, the permanent head coach of the Ukrainian Premier League team had passed away.

Playing as a wing midfielder, Kasanov played a record 513 matches in the history of the Vinnytsia club for 14 seasons with Nyva and scored a record 142 goals in all tournaments.

After completing his playing career, Pasha Kasanov served as the head coach of Niva (1992-1994 and 1996-1997), worked as the club's executive director. In particular, it was under his leadership that the team played in the European Cups for the only time in 1996. Niva managed to get through the Cup Winners' Cup against the Estonian Sadam (1:2, 1:0), but the Swiss Sion proved to be beyond the Vinnytsia team's control (0:2, 0:4).

The specialist, who also played for Zaporizhia Metalurh and Zhytomyr Polissya, devoted many years to the development of children's and youth football in Vinnytsia. He was the founder of the private football school “Svitanok”, among whose most famous students are Valeriy Fedorchuk and Artem Kychak. In addition, Pasha Kasanov was a member of the executive committee of the Vinnytsia Regional Football Association.
