
Legendary Atletico Madrid striker Enrique Collar has died at the age of 91, the Madrid club's official website reports. The famous Atletico Madrid player, father of the former Chelsea star, passed away earlier.

During his 16 years with the “mattresses”, the agile forward Collar, nicknamed El Niño (“The Kid”), won the Spanish Championship (1966), the Spanish Cup three times (1960, 1961, 1965), and also won the Cup Winners’ Cup (in a replay of the final in 1962, his team defeated Fiorentina 3-0).
Collar captained Atletico for 10 years, longer than any other player. In 470 appearances for the Madrid club (tied for 5th place with Antoine Griezmann), he scored 105 goals and provided 101 assists.

The forward played 16 matches and scored 5 goals for the Spanish national team, taking part in the 1962 World Cup in Chile.
After his playing career, Enrique Collar, who also played for Cadiz, Murcia and Valencia, worked in various positions at his home club, including heading the Atlético Foundation. In recent years, the footballer, who had Alzheimer's disease, has been confined to a wheelchair.
