Pilot 5G to be launched in two Ukrainian cities

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov officially confirmed that a 5G pilot project will be launched in some parts of two cities in Ukraine within a few weeks.

Very soon, within a few weeks, we will launch 5G for these cities, or rather parts of these cities. And this will be the first important step that will be scaled further.

According to Mikhail Fedorov, it is extremely important to take into account the factor of military aircraft, radars, and other electronic warfare equipment, since 5G operates at certain frequencies and there must be some compatibility.

“That's why we worked on this for a long time, tested it with the military, and there will be a pilot,” the head of the department announced.

As mentioned earlier, at the end of November, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, officially confirmed that his team is actively working on launching a 5G pilot.

It is important that all Ukrainians in frontline territories have access to the Internet, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine explained this decision.

On August 14, the Ukrainian government included Kharkiv and Borodyanka (Kyiv region), along with Lviv, in the list of cities where 5G communications will be tested.
