The government has approved a list of 22 scientific developments that will be created for the first time by order of the state – this is a new approach to integrating science into the real sector of the economy.

This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to him, previously scientists themselves chose topics for research, now priorities are determined according to the needs of defense, economics, medicine, ecology, and other key industries.

Developments cover the following areas:

  • National security: innovative technologies to strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
  • Energy: creation of technologies for producing hydrogen fuel.
  • Agricultural sector: overcoming the consequences of hostilities on agricultural lands.
  • Medicine: development of new methods of diagnosing and treating cancer, as well as development of rehabilitation technologies based on artificial intelligence.
  • Ecology: solving problems caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP and the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir.
  • Digitalization: implementing solutions based on artificial intelligence.

The state has allocated over 186 million hryvnias for the implementation of these projects. Scientists have two years to complete the work and create solutions ready for practical use.

The most valuable thing Ukraine has is its people. Therefore, it is important that more scientists and scientific teams reveal their own potential and work for the benefit of security, the economy, and society,” Fedorov emphasized.

He added that the initiative is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and other ministries.

Ukrainian scientists will receive €4.5 million in EU grants as the European Commission has decided to triple the initial budget of the EURIZON fellowships program under Horizon Europe. This decision was made to ensure continued support for Ukrainian research, which is facing numerous challenges due to the full-scale war with Russia.
