Meta has postponed the release of its augmented reality smart glasses to 2027, although it initially planned to bring the device to the market in the second half of 2026. This became known from internal documents.

The publication clarifies that the headset is being developed under the code name Phoenix, previously it was called Puffin within the company.

Previously, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth confirmed to The Verge that they are developing a mixed reality headset in the form factor of glasses.
Recall that the company already has a line of smart glasses with a built-in camera, made in collaboration with Ray-Ban. The first version of the device was released in 2021.
