With Stoke and Swansea adding to the list of clubs on the lookout for new managers, we look at the favourites to fill the series of high-profile vacancies.
The Swans and Potters decided to part company with Carlos Carvalhal and Paul Lambert respectively following their recent relegation’s, meaning a quarter of the sides from the recently finished Premier League are without managers.
Based on Sky Bet’s range of manager markets, here’s a look at who the favourites are for the five positions…
Arsenal – Mikel Arteta (1/5 with Sky Bet)
With two of his former clubs on the lookout for a new manager, it is a good time for the highly-rated Mikel Arteta to make his move into management. The Gunners are odds-on to win any potential battle for Manchester City’s coach’s services, with Everton 20/1 shots.
If Arsenal don’t opt for their former playmaker, recently departed PSG boss Unai Emery is second favourite at 6/1, while the other single-figure option is Massimiliano Allegri, although reports suggest he is now likely to stay with Juventus.
Brendan Rodgers (12/1), Thierry Henry (16/1), Carlo Ancelotti and Patrick Vieira (both 18/1) follow in the betting, while former favourites Luis Enrique and Zeljko Buvac have drifted out to 20/1 and 22/1 respectively.
Everton – Marco Silva (1/3 with Sky Bet)
While the next Arsenal manager market has had several favourites, Marco Silva has headed the Everton one since betting begun upon Sam Allardyce’s departure.
The appointment of the Portuguese boss would certainly make sense given their pursuit of his services prior to turning to Big Sam, especially as they were reportedly willing to pay Watford £12million and can now get him on a free.
However, their ongoing dispute with the Hornets, who claim the Toffees’ pursuit of their now former manager caused their drop in form, could still prove a stumbling block.
David Moyes is next on the list at 7/1 after vacating the West Ham position on Thursday, while Louis van Gaal is also single-figure odds at 8/1.
West Ham – Manuel Pellegrini (1/5 with Sky Bet)
Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been backed into odds-on favourite for the West Ham position. Paulo Fonseca, who had also been linked with Everton, led the early betting but put an end to talk over his future by signing a new contract Shakhtar Donetsk.
Chilean veteran boss Pellegrini is also in work but is thought to be more open to an exit from Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China Fortune, with reports suggesting he has already held talks with the east London club.
Rafael Benitez is the 11/4 second favourite but Newcastle are confident of keeping the Spanish boss at St James’ Park, while Nantes manager Claudio Ranieri follows at 5/1.
Swansea – Chris Coleman (7/4 with Sky Bet)
An odds-on favourite is yet to emerge in the betting on Swansea next manager, with Chris Coleman the early leading contender at 7/4.
The former Wales boss is out of work after parting company with relegated Sunderland, with Ostersunds manager Graham Potter 5/2 to be handed his first major opportunity in English football by taking over the Sky Bet Championship bound Liberty Stadium outfit.
Son of John Toshack and Swansea Under-23s manager, Cameron Toshack, follows in the betting at 9/2, while Michael Laudrup is 6/1 for a return to the Liberty Stadium.
Stoke – David Moyes (11/8 with Sky Bet)
The Potters have also begun their planning for life in the Sky Bet EFL by parting company with their money, but it is a vastly experienced Premier League manager in Moyes who is favourite to succeed Paul Lambert.
Mick McCarthy’s (11/8) experience is more tailored to their destination and is out of work following his Ipswich departure, while Nigel Pearson (11/1), Potter, Allardyce (both 12/1) and Chris Wilder (14/1) follow in a wide-open market.
