We can only do the Senate race in Texas. A new survey Quinnipac University shows incumbent Senator Ted Cruz (R) barely ahead of his democratic opponent, the Republic of Beto O’rourke — 47% to 44%.
Although a survey of this competition was sparse this year, and Cruz is the favorite in a red state, this result seems to cement the Texas race as a priority for Democrats as they fight to take back the Senate in 2018.
Although trump won in Texas, his victory over Hillary Clinton was only 9 percentage points — to the nearest Texas was in the presidential election for two decades. And the survey Quinnipac believes that the state voters not particularly thrilled with the performance of trump in office — 52% of respondents didn’t approve of him, while 43 percent approved.
O’rourke’s fundraising figures were impressive — working at the grassroots small donors, who seem to really want Ted Cruz left the Senate, O’rourke raised more than twice what Cruz did in the first quarter of this year and has a comparable amount of money in the hands of the incumbent Senator.
However, Quinnipac also found that O’rourke is still not particularly well known throughout the state, with 53 percent of respondents said that they do not know enough to form an opinion about him. Cruz will try to take advantage of this situation, trying to determine his opponent. (He stood up on the odd effort to cast a shadow on O’rourke for the use of the nickname “Beto.”)
The big picture is that although the Democrats face extremely unfavorable the map in an attempt to regain the Senate — they were defending 26 seats and nine Republicans, many of their seats are in States trump won, their chances have improved in a few different places in the end.
The top two goals of the party for a long time Senator Dean Heller (R-N) And AZ of jobs of the outgoing Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ). If the Democrats win those two seats, they wanted to regain control of the house — if they all kept their seats this year, which can be quite difficult with red-staters like Joe Manchin (WV), Claire McCaskill (MO), Heidi heitkamp company (ND) and Joe Donnelly (In), on the ballot.
For Democrats the chance to improve, they should increase the number of competitive GOP-held races in some red States like Tennessee to open the place where the former Governor Phil Bredesen (d) poll on the eve of the Marsha Blackburn, Mississippi special elections in which Republicans are dealing with intra-party tensions, and Cruz’s seat in Texas. They faced difficulties in all three races — but they seem to be in the hunt.
