It was another exciting week in the IPL, with players from England are very much in the center of the drama.

What a blow! And what a way to declare himself the IPL!
Roy was a hidden lower order in three forgettable games for Gujarat lions in last year’s tournament and was not selected for the Delhi opening two games in 2018, but, after two defeats, he came to New Zealand’s Colin Munro in the upper part.

What an inspired decision it turned out, as Roy cracks fours and as many sixes in a blistering, unbeaten 91 from 53 balls. The key word here being ‘unbeaten’ as, so often criticism of Surrey and England star was his inability to see a good start in a truly match-winning score, but his effort helped the daredevils successfully pursue Mumbai 195-run result.
This prompted mark butcher, watching as knock on the sky Sports Cricket Studio, to say that the proof of a new level of maturity in the batting Roy, a beneficial effect Ricky Ponting as Delhi coach.
“He closed the game in maturity he showed through the gears, were all great signs,” said Butcher. “It seems that Ponting has had a real impact on him. He’s there saying, ‘come on, you’re a fantastic player, but I can’t let you slide here. You don’t give it now.'”

Brilliant Sam Billings’ 56 from 23 balls helped Chennai to defeat Kolkata in a high-scoring IPL Thriller
Speaking of match-winning innings’, Billing could not be there at the end to see Chennai home win against Kolkata, but his 56 from 23 balls was extremely important!
Difficult set 203 to win, Billings came to the crease in the 12th over, and another 102 runs still needed, joining the super kings skipper MS Dhoni in the middle.
It takes something to outdo the IPL run-chase specialist Doni, but that’s exactly what Billings did, smashing five sixes in his staggering knock, including two important ones in 18, after Dhoni fell for 25 in the previous with 28 runs still needed from 21 balls.
Billings could not repeat his exploits in Chennai second exit in a week, however, the strange ball LBW dismissal looked Ashwin – originally awarded four runs, before giving the comment – we’re not in the chase for kings XI 198-run target.

Chris Woakes, The Royal Challengers Bangalore Bowling – 7.2-0-83-4 St. 20.75, Best Bowling 2-36; Batting – Mini 2, Tracks 1, Ul. 1
Still not quite at his best, although Woakes continues to have a happy knack of taking wickets – and seven hits over the first three games, the joint-most in the tournament so far, along with the Mumbai leg-spinner Mayank Markande.
Woakes also, however, continues to be expensive, going to a comfortable 10-an-over. He struggled in the early innings against kings XI, conceding 16 runs in the form of KL Rahul in the first place, and he was on the back end, where damage was caused to Rajasthan, Sanju Samson blow your last three delivery within 14.

Ben Stokes, Rajasthan royals: batting – mini 2, routes 43, St. 21.50, VG 27; Bowling 3-0-32-1, St. 32
With the bat, against Delhi, Stokes had failed to obtain an absolute beauty from Trent Boult – stirring memories of England differs Auckland crash in New Zealand in the recent test series – as the left-armer got one step up on a stump and pull back sharply, with the outer edge.

Butler continues to threaten the IPL, but without really shipping bubble style boundary-Laden innings, which became his trademark in England blue.
But, it’s two weeks of IPL efforts were two more-than-useful cameos that contribute to the linking Rajasthan wins – first tonking two fours and two sixes in an 18-ball 29 in the rain-affected victory over Delhi, and then 23 from 14 as the royals racked up a massive 217 runs in their victory over the abstract.
His second innings the week began with a sublime reverse sweep for four first ball, including hitting Woakes for six to midwicket, but ultimately ended with the confusion of the fall of his comrade in the England team, Fielding a full toss to mid-off.
Verdict: 6/10
Tom Curran, Kolkata Knight Riders Bowling 3-0-39-2, 19.50 PR.
Curran didn’t look intimidated when you come in for your first experience of the IPL for Kolkata on Tuesday, although he was somewhat abruptly retired from the team after the defeat in Chennai.
He was far from the Central blame for the fact that the Knight riders were unable to defend 202, as Billings starred in the super kings, and he even took two wickets in his, though expensive, three overs – Billings in the penultimate and earlier Shane Watson, who was not happy to fall on the cake-stop’. It (lip-read) words, not mine.
Left hand option veteran Mitchell Johnson replaced him defeat on Saturday at Sunrisers, returning very similar numbers. It certainly won’t be the last we see in the Surrey all-rounder in the IPL.
Verdict: 5/10
With regard to the interests of England elsewhere, as many as six players missed over two weeks:
Alex Haley and Chris Jordan is still to play for Sunrisers unbeaten and, given their successful three wins from three starters, they might have to settle for waiting a while longer.

Liam Plunkett also when you go to Delhi, even though he was encouraged by his friend Roy’s success on Saturday – he could follow their example with the first IPL appearance, possibly Monday against Kolkata?
Moeen Ali and David Willey is still waiting to make their IPL debut for RCB and Chennai respectively, while mark wood is chosen, as conceded 49 from his four overs in his first outing in the super kings.
