Chinese state media reports that a coal mine mishap in the northern part of China resulted in four fatalities, and 90 individuals are still confined.
The event transpired Friday evening, local time, at the Liushenyu coal mine situated in Changzhi City, as stated by Xinhua, the Chinese state news source.
Xinhua also reported that carbon monoxide concentrations in the mine were "beyond permissible levels."
Xinhua indicates that there were 247 personnel working below ground during the occurrence. According to state media, 157 individuals, including the four confirmed deceased, have been successfully brought above ground.
State media says that among the 90 workers still confined below ground, 16 are in serious condition.
Search and rescue operations remain in progress.
